Frequently Asked Questions
To advise you even better, we have tried to formulate the most frequently asked questions and, of course, the answers to these questions as clearly as possible.
What is a PMS color and what is CMYK? What will my logo look like when I choose pad printing, screen printing or transfer? What resolution is required for a sharp print? Will I see anything beforehand before everything is delivered? How do I know if something is on its way?
You can find the answer to all these questions and more on this FAQ page. To make searching even faster we have divided them into categories: FAQ ordering process, FAQ printing, FAQ delivery and FAQ returns.
Searched and couldn't find it? That can happen, but please don't hesitate to contact us directly. We are always available by phone, email or chat to provide you with an answer.
Have you found a product? Then choose the quantity, the desired (printing) options and calculate the exact price this way. The displayed prices include startup costs, setup costs and delivery to 1 address in the Netherlands, excl. 21% VAT.
It may be that you initially saw the price of the item without printing or with printing in 1 color. The price changes per color of printing because a promotional product then has to be printed multiple times to achieve the desired result. There are fixed setup costs per color print (for making a screen, cliché, etc.). A 1-color print is therefore cheaper than a print in, for example, 3 colors. This does not apply to digital printing because no setup costs per color are required due to the digital process.

Once you have given approval to the digital proof, the production process has started and the order can no longer be changed. Cancellation is therefore not possible at that point.
When you have placed an order, you will receive a digital proof per ordered item for approval. You will also receive an order confirmation/assignment confirmation. In this assignment confirmation we also state the delivery time of your order.
We state the delivery date of your order on the assignment confirmation you receive. It may always differ slightly, for example by a day earlier or later. If you have an exact deadline that must be met, that is of course possible. In that case it is wise to contact one of our advisors so that we can and will take care of this down to the smallest detail.
We offer several options. For regular customers we usually apply a payment term of 14 days. If you are new to Tailwind Premiums, we may request advance payment for the first order. You can also pay online immediately via iDeal, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal or Apple Pay, among others.
If it turns out on delivery that the product has been printed differently from the digital proof you approved, we will immediately proceed to correct your order. We will do everything we can to re-deliver the order within the shortest possible time, which we will of course communicate to you. If you paid in advance and do not want a new order delivered, we will collect the goods and ensure that the amount is refunded.
A PMS color is a specific color number. PMS stands for Pantone Matching System. In this system every color has its own unique color number. This system was created so that printers and processors all over the world can reproduce your exact corporate color. A PMS color in the Netherlands is therefore exactly the same as abroad. When using PMS colors there is only a distinction between the PMS U (Uncoated) and PMS C (Coated) variants. Depending on the material or substrate, either the Coated or Uncoated variant will be used. For promotional products we mostly use the Coated variant, while for paper, notepads, etc. the Uncoated version is most commonly used.
We use a PMS color or PMS colors to ensure that we print your logo in the correct color. However, some logos are created in full color. For full color logos we print in CMYK instead of PMS. CMYK is a process where colors are not numbered but built up from percentages of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK). We use CMYK printing for example in digital printing, but a screen print can also be built in CMYK. Depending on the logo/image to be printed and the items to be printed, we will advise you which technique is most suitable and most cost-effective.
We never go straight to production after ordering. There is always a proof phase first. For each ordered product we send a digital proof for approval. Only after approval of this proof do we go into production. For custom-made projects this works exactly the same. However, during actual production there is an extra step. In mutual consultation you will also receive a photo for approval of the first production sample or even a complete model for approval before we proceed to mass production.
Depending on the product, printing technique and your logo, we determine the correct print size (printing area). Through the digital proof we show exactly how large we will execute the print.
A raster (pixel) file is an image made up of lots of colored dots. Depending on the resolution this may sometimes not be visible to the naked eye but becomes clear when zooming in on the logo.
To ensure that the processing (print, printing, engraving, embroidery etc.) can be carried out cleanly and sharply we always ask for an .eps (Encapsulated PostScript), an .ai (Adobe Illustrator) or .pdf (Portable Document Format). Nowadays we usually receive artwork supplied as .pdf but note that not every .pdf is automatically a vector file. Of course we will contact you immediately if the artwork is not suitable to perform a high-quality process.
We ask for an Encapsulated PostScript, also called .eps, or an Adobe Illustrator file, also called .ai.
When you place an order you will receive a digital proof per ordered item for approval. You will also receive an order confirmation/assignment confirmation. In this assignment confirmation we also state the delivery time of your order.
That is possible but not necessary. A 4-color print really consists of 4 colors, while a full color print can for example also be 5 colors. If we are going to print a full color logo on a dark-colored item, we may advise using white beneath the full color to keep the colors vivid and bright.
After your order we always create a digital proof for approval before production. Without your approval we will not move to production. Would you like to know during the orientation phase how a product will look? That is possible too. Request a visual, or as we call it an Artist Impression, free of charge. Whether it concerns a printed pen, a printed polo or an embroidery, a screen print on a cotton tote bag, it does not matter. We can make a free, non-binding Artist Impression for all products. We often include this already with the quotation request.
Once you have given approval to the digital proof, the production process has started and the order can no longer be changed. Cancellation is therefore not possible at that point.
A sample can be requested for any product. A sample sent is generally unprinted/without printing or has an example print. A sample with your own logo is not possible. There are some exceptions but these are very limited and always subject to a fee. Request a sample free of charge by calling, emailing or using the chat.
When we talk about a vector file we mean an image made up of vectors and not pixels. A logo used on a webpage or in a signature is almost always a raster file. Often indicated as .png, .jpg or .jpeg. These files cannot be edited and when enlarged it becomes clear that they will never yield a sharp print. If a vector file, for example a .eps, .ai or sometimes a .pdf, is enlarged this has no effect on the quality of the file. It remains razor-sharp so that the translation to printed promotional products or printed textiles can also always be executed sharply. Saving a .jpeg file as .eps makes no sense. The file will have a different name but the quality of the file does not change.
It is important that the text in the file is converted to outlines. This prevents a different font from being used in the end. If that is not possible, don’t worry. Tell us which font should be used according to the corporate identity and we will take care of the rest.
• The substrate of a product can affect the ink color. On a dark substrate we, for example, first use white ink to transfer the other colors correctly. A yellow logo on a black bag could otherwise appear much too dark.
• Depending on the image, number of colours printed and substrate, we may advise using transfer printing instead of direct screen printing. A transfer print is also a screen print but we first print it on paper and then apply it with heat. The advantage is that the print can be better executed on coarser textiles like canvas bags.
• Some products have a seam exactly where the logo could best be positioned. Think of 6-panel caps but this can also occur with bags. Because printing across the seam is not recommended, we will suggest embroidery for these products.
We state the delivery time of your order on the assignment confirmation you receive after placing your order.
You do not receive this by default but it can always be provided on request.
After approval of the digital proof we have all the information needed. If you want the invoice sent to another email address, or if it is necessary to mention a PO number, just send a message to your advisor and everything will be arranged.
We will not personally come to your door and always ship via a reliable carrier. Most often this will be UPS but it may happen that another carrier delivers your order. This also depends on the product, volume and processing.
We always invoice after delivery, with the exception that an advance payment is requested if you are ordering from us for the first time. An exception may be if it concerns a very large order, in which case we may request a partial payment in advance. This is always in consultation.
We deliver worldwide and consider per country which carrier has the best network. We can also assist with the customs clearance process to ensure that your order is actually delivered to the correct location.
State at the start of the process that you want to place an order with a hard deadline. If we agree on our side, we will ensure that this deadline will not be a problem. If you have a product in mind for which this deadline cannot be met, we will gladly help with suitable alternatives that can certainly be produced by the requested deadline. What to do if my package is not delivered or not delivered on time? Of course this should not happen but the shipping process is not something we have full control over. We are dependent on the carrier involved. If you have a delivery problem, let us know immediately. We will contact the carrier directly and ensure a quick solution.
If you place an order with us for pens, T-shirts, drink bottles or other promotional products with your logo, we make these completely to measure for you. You will receive the digital proof for approval beforehand. Custom-made products can therefore not be returned. No cooling-off period applies to these products.
Yes, that is possible, provided within 14 days. However, in some cases an amount will be deducted from the refund. This amount depends on the product and the quantity. It is important that the products are demonstrably unused and still packed in the original packaging,
For every ordered product you receive a digital proof for approval. This proof is always leading. If something has gone wrong and the print differs from the approved proof, we will immediately re-produce and deliver. The incorrect products will be collected and replaced by a correctly executed production.
Please contact us by phone, email or chat. We will collect the products as soon as possible and ensure a new correct delivery.
